SERSing held its second field trial at SUJCHBO in April 2024, where the main goal was to present actual outcomes of the SERSing project to end-users who would be interested in using the final product. At the trial, the main aim for end-users was to solve as many real-life scenarios involving chemical hazards as possible, including chemicals that can be released during terrorist attacks or accidents.

Our selected end-users from Czech bodies – the police, EOD team, or firefighters – were presented scenarios like a raid into a clandestine lab or a finding of suspicious baggage on a train platform. Other than realistic scenes and use of real chemical/CWA the end-users used all relevant PPE and other equipment including the latest development stage of SRSing tools to get as much information about the nature of the threat caused by chemical spread on the crime scene.

Project member Michal Dymák had this to say: “In the end, the consortium got invaluable information about the usability, pros/cons of the developed means which are crucial before the outcomes would be manufactured. SUJCHBO’s role was to maintain the field trials, provide the chemicals and all materials which were used and to process all the feedback from all who were involved.”
